Obituary for Michael Massimo
Michael L. Massimo age 91, passed away at The Paramount in Somers, NY on May 4, 2023. He was born in the Bronx on November 26, 1931 where he met his wife of 68 years, Rosemary Barbella. They later moved to Harrison, NY where they raised their family. In 1980 they moved to Mahopac, NY where he resided until his passing.
In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and trapping side by side with his sons. Anyone that knew him, knows that Groundhog's day was a one of his favorite holidays. He loved the song Muskrat Love and a quote from the movie The Wizard of Oz, “What makes a muskrat guard his musk? COURAGE!” In his later years he loved spending his summers as a vendor at flea markets and fairs with his wife and his grandson, Joey.
He is predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Margaret Massimo, his wife Rosemary Massimo and his son Michael S. Massimo.
He survived by his son Louis Massimo (Cheryl), his daughter Phyllis Mazziotta, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his best friend, his dog Maggie.
Calling hours are Sunday May 7, 2023 4:00 to 8:00 at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home in Carmel, NY. A mass of the christian burial will be on Monday May 8, 2023 at 10:00 at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Carmel, NY. Internment will be at a later date.
