Obituary for Americo Resto

Americo Resto,
85, of Da Bronx, NY, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior on April 16th, 2023 after a long illness.

He was born in Utuado, PR on the Fourth of July 1937 yet the fireworks must have been blinding for his father who celebrated the birth of his first son so much that he declared him days later! He is survived by his wife of 62 years, three children, two grandchildren, four sisters their spouses, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Americo was in the US Army, Honorably Discharged came to New York to start a career. He became a jack of all trades doing everything from plumber, electrician to happily working with food services for Health and Hospital Corporation for over 25 years. He soon retired realizing the passion about his job was consuming the food, always enjoying and helping himself to everything. Upgrading himself to traveling, gardening, tinkering, church activities and being an Abuelo.

Americo is admired for his passions and fulfillment to follow through. The first time he met his wife he proposed to her and was willing to meet her father. When he met his soon to be father in law he was given a challenge to have everything set up for them in a year, yet, he accomplished it in half the time. His strong work ethic and commitment was what he was known for. He had a great sense of humor and was a prankster. He had a love for animals that left us without the desire to ask for pets from ducks, parrots, tortoise multiple cats and dogs having a soft spot for strays. His favorite being a mini German Shepherd named Egor among so many others. An avid Yankee fan. Lover of road trips, music, played an accordion and harmonica,. Enjoyed cream soda, pizza, espressos, Wendy’s chicken nuggets with French fries (supposedly for the grands.) To be greatly missed
