Obituary for Fritz H. West
Fritz H. West, (85) of Lake Carmel, NY passed away on March 25th 2023 comfortably in his home.
He is survived by a brother Walter (Boynton Beach, FL) and a nephew John (Plano, TX). He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years Eleanor, a brother Horst, and a sister Hertha.
Born on July 20, 1937 in Munich Germany, he made his way to the US in 1956 at 19 years old. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1965. While he had a successful career as a butcher, he had a passion for baking – even reciting from memory his favorite pastry recipe from childhood. He was an avid skier and swimmer and loved to do cryptograms. He also enjoyed rooting for his favorite sports teams – the Mets and Jets. His smile, contagious laugh and countless stories will be missed by both family and his dear friends. We are all so fortunate for having had Fritz in our lives.
