Obituary for Dorothy R. Ferrara
Dorothy R. Ferrara, 92 years of age, passed on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the home of her daughter Heidi. She succumbed to metastatic ocular melanoma after almost 2 years.
Dorothy was born on December 2, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Henry and Millie Weimer, their only child. As a young child Dorothy moved with her parents to Jamaica Queens. She was a graduate of Jamaica High School.
Dorothy married the late Louis S. Ferrara on June 24, 1964. She moved with Louis to the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx. They were one month from celebrating 45 years of marriage when Louis passed away. Dorothy and Louis were blessed with five children and raised one grandchild. Dorothy loved and cherished her children Theresa (Fred – passed away) Arnold, Susan Ferrara – passed away, John (Maryanne) Ferrara, Wendy – passed away (John) Posimato, Heidi (Patrick) Nardelli, and Tracy (Michael) Silvestri. Her grandchildren Nicole (Tommy) Economides, John A. Posimato, Logan Nardelli, and Sydney Nardelli and great grandchildren Gianna Silvestri, Christopher Silvestri, and Giuliana Economides and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dorothy loved spending time with her children and friends. She was an avid gardener, loved animals, enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, bowling, tennis, shopping, traveling, and especially trips to Atlantic City.
