Obituary for Margot Turano

Margot Turano, 79, of Carmel, New York passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 after battling cancer for more than two years.
Margot Joyce was born, the second of three children in Bronx, NY on July 16, 1943 to Josephine and Adolph Heller.
Margot was a loving mother to Nicole, and YaYa to SamSabrina. She was married to her husband Vincent for more than 55 years, many of their years together spent in Massachusetts.
Although raised in the Bronx she spent time on her grandmother’s farm near the Finger Lakes, and as a young adult she helped run her family’s restaurants in NYC. She graduated Syracuse University with a Masters in Education, but went on to become a successful Real Estate Agent. Throughout much of her life, beginning as a teenager, she was an avid tennis player and competed and was ranked on the amateur circuit. Margot (aka “Crafty YaYa) spent much of her free time crafting, from knitting to drawing and making cards; she was talented and wonderfully creative.
In addition to her husband and daughter, her brother and sister, niece and nephews survive her.
A memorial will be held at Balsamo-Cordovano Funeral Home on November 28, 2022 from 3:00PM-7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Putnam Humane Society or to a charity of your choice are welcome.
