Obituary for Lydia Masi (Lydia Aprile)

Lydia Aprile Masi, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2020, at St. Cabrini Nursing home. She was born in Lecce, Italy on Jan 19, 1925. She attended the University of Naples where she met her husband Giuseppe Masi. They married on February 10,1955 and came to the US to be with Giuseppe's family in Harrison, NY in 1958.

She has three children, Domenica, Umberto, and Irene along with two son in laws, Ron and Tom, and one daughter in law, Susan. She has five grandchildren, Remy, Lara, Angela, Marisa, and Nathaniel as well as two great grandchildren, Colin and Kora.

Lydia's teenage years in Italy were during World War II and she often told stories about what it was like living through blackouts, rations, and the sounds of aircraft followed by bombings nearby. Those memories never left her and she often remarked how lucky she and others were to have survived that horrible time in history.

Lydia enjoyed her life in Harrison where she lived next door to Alfonsina, her sister in law, and the kind neighbors that kept her company between family visits.

She loved to take walks around the neighborhood daily and also spent her time doing crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family.

She will be missed by all who loved her.
