Condolence From: Horace Wright
Condolence: January 25, 2021

I did not know that the world had lost this good man until today, and I am saddend to now know that he is gone.

I first met him at the 48 Precinct in the Bronx. I was assigned to the 48 in 1987

I have always remembered his very calm, very patient, very quiet and calm personality. A real gentleman in every way.

The last time I saw Sergeant Ahern was in the mid 1990's when one of my Supervisors sent me to the 5th floor of One Fordham Plaza, in the Bronx, to apply for entry into the Crime Scene Unit.

I am very sad to learn that you are now gone Sarge, but God now has another Angel.

Condolence: Liam was a joy to know even as a young child he had wisdom and such an easy approach to life. He was centered from earliest days on family which perhaps came from his being blessed with two grandmothers at the Ahern Camp. Our Nana Ahern and Mrs. Henry were prominent figures in keeping the clan of kids in line. He had a curious, adventurous nature but was one for following the rules. His cousins are numerous and all blessed in our sense of family and unity. Liam was a steward of carrying this tradition on and we all will miss his fast wit and gentle smile. Liam’s life was to unite and build his family bonds whether his family or the extended family. We will miss his presence but I will celebrate Liam always. My condolences and sympathy to Nuala and all the family.

Condolence: While so sorry to see my friend Liam pass, i am excited to remember great times with a great man. Met first when i came from Sligo to NY 27 years ago, do not recall ever having a chat where Liam was not happy and excited talking about Nuala or one of his 4 prides and joy.
My condolences to The entire extended family and now sure his protective reach will be from above.
God Bless, Michael

Condolence: Liam was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. When he shook your hand, you knew he meant it. Always quick with a funny comment, and he carried himself with a quiet confidence. He was also a terrific singer of Irish songs (after some gentle "prodding" from his mother). He will be greatly missed.

Condolence: My sincerest condolences to Nuala and the entire Ahern family. Some of my fondest memories growing up are times spent with the Ahern clan and Liam leading the way in singing Irish songs. Liam taught me early lessons like the fact that it is important to introduce the crew on the Irish Rover before you sink the boat! In all seriousness, his quick wit and humble nature were without match. Though the miles and time saw us get together less frequently, they couldn't diminish the love and respect I have for the man, and when we did get together it was always a treat. He has so much to be proud of in his family and the growing list of grand kids. You will be missed, Liam but never forgotten.

Condolence: Liam was the type of man who exuded that quiet confidence that only the strongest people do... and why not? A NYC detective, trained by Xaverian Bros. and Sisters of Mercy, trained by his brother Jack as a tough Union business agent; my friends, this was truly a man among men! He exuded personal confidence. A leader of his family, a true friend of mine ...count yourself lucky if you knew Liam Ahern. Rest In Peace, my brother.
