Obituary for William J. French Jr.

William J. French, Jr., 84, passed away on January 3, 2019 from complications due to Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on August 22, 1934 to the late Catherine Murtagh French and William J. French, Sr. in Port Chester, NY. He was a lifelong resident of Harrison, NY, where he retired as a police officer. In addition, he was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army for several years. William was a member of Blue Knights, Emerald Society, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Police Benevolent Association, National Rifle Association, American Legion, NY Police and Fire Retiree Association and Civil War Roundtable. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy; son William French III and daughter Wendy French Hearrean (Duke Hearrean); grandchildren William French IV (Cecilia Navarro), David French (Samantha Hoffman), Shannon French, Kaycee French, Clay Hearrean, Cole Hearrean; great grandchildren Hudson French, Ryder French, Liliana French; and sisters Patricia Basso, Barbara Blake, Marolyn Kerns and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of William’s life will be held noon, Saturday January 12 at Harrison Presbyterian Church, 181 Harrison Ave, Harrison, NY 10528. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the VFW or any charity that supports our nation’s troops.
