Obituary for Jean Patricia Ryan (Jean Patricia Sheehan)

Jean Patricia Ryan (Jean Patricia Sheehan)
Jean Patricia Ryan, 86, passed on to our heavenly Father and life ever-after on Friday, April 27, 2018. There, she will be reunited with Patrick Joseph Ryan, her husband and soul mate, and our father, who left us way too early, in 1979. Jean was the daughter of Patrick Sheehan and Catherine Harper of Astoria, NY. Jean is survived by her “three pearls” and their families: Christine and Mike Dimov of Harrisburg, PA; Kathleen and Joe Aquino and their children, Joseph, Ryan and Erin of Mamaroneck; and Janice and Frank Farina and their boys, Christopher, Steven, and John of Fishkill. Jean’s older sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and John Ley, and their sons, John and Ricky, preceded Mom in death and are survived by Jean's nephews Brian Ley and Steven Ley of Sandia Park, New Mexico.

Jean was born on October 24, 1931, at home, in Astoria, Queens, in an apartment building shared by a number of her aunts and uncles and their children. She graduated from William Jennings Bryant High School, in the top of her class, and moved on to a variety of jobs in NYC, each more challenging than the previous. She enjoyed travelling to Canada and Cuba and to places in between with girlfriends before marrying Pat in 1955 after his two years of service in the Korean War. Mom then set her sights on home and family. They were happily married for 24 years and were fortunate to realize many of their hopes and dreams together.

Mom delighted in the simpler things in life with the occasional indulgence in the finer things (like caviar and champagne for very special occasions) and had a quick wit about her that always made us laugh. More than anything, she cherished her grandchildren who never ceased to amaze and amuse her. She will be missed.

The family also wishes to thank Bridgette Newland and those who loved and cared for Jean in the final years of her life at Bayberry Nursing Home in New Rochelle.

Rest in peace, Mom. We love you.
Chris, Kathy and Janice
