Obituary for Robert Patrick Nolan

Robert P. Nolan, 75, of Somers, NY and Key West, FL passed to the next life on October 20, 2017.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life Marianne Lepre-Nolan, his children Janeann Nolan Ainbinder (Bruce), Patrick Nolan, Kristen Nolan, Jamie Nolan, grandson Matthew Nolan Ainbinder, sister Ann (Nolan) Walker, and sister-in-law Margaret Nolan (Al) and scores of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his siblings Mary McHale (Deucy), Aloysius Nolan, JoanMarie Vivalda (Vic), and John Nolan. Bob, who was treasured by his family, is remembered fondly as an uncle who was both wise and fun.

He was born in Carbondale, PA to Aloysius and Mary Regil Nolan. After proudly serving his country in the Coast Guard (Atlantic Beach) during the Vietnam era, he became a professional firefighter in White Plains and took great pride in his service to the City. Bob was deeply honored to serve as a Critical Stress Syndrome Counselor to firefighters all over lower Westchester after 9/11. He was a licensed sea captain and upon retirement, fulfilled his retirement dream of solo sailing from Rye, NY to Key West, FL where he and Marianne made their home during the winter. Bob took great glee in sitting in his hot tub while winter weather unfolded in the northeast. Most profoundly, Bob's greatest legacy is his unwavering love of God. Whenever asked, “How are you doing?” his response was always, “God loves me. I don’t have a complaint about anything.” Bob was a friend of Bill W for over 36 years where he leaves another deep legacy. He helped pave the way of spirituality for many in the recovery community where his influence deeply touched hundreds of lives.
