Richard was a ten year old when we first met him. We lived "down the hill" from his family's house in Briarcliff Manor. We knew his siblings and his parents, Pat and Bill, and we enjoyed our intersections over the years--moments ranging from street side chats to a passing wave as we drove by their house. We recall one of Richard's favorite childhood activities--spending time at the pond down the hill from his house and next to ours. It was always a peaceful sight. He seemed to love the quiet and the challenge of discovery at the pond.
News of Richard's passing prompted a similar sense of quiet in our lives. We offer condolences to his Dad, to his sisters, Christine and Carolyn, and to his wife Sandy and their children. Their hope is our hope--that Richard's memory will always be with them, with the help of time and the legacy of love that Richard has left.
